I checked my Audubon Field Guide for North American Mushrooms about the weird looking yellowish growths on the mulch. It may in the dry rot family, called "wet rot". If it's still there next Tuesday, I think I'll try to see how it is attached to the mulch or if it has spread. It might be good to remove it. The mushroom world is so interesting to me.
